Cliff MeylerNew! |
It is with sadness that we have to report the sudden death of CWCC Vice-President Cliff Meyler on Tuesday, 11th March.
Cliff joined the Chorleywood Strollers in the mid-1980s after a successful batting career with Chipperfield. He scored a lot runs for the Strollers including at least two centuries. This led to Cliff becoming a successful Captain of the Saturday Second XI. After retiring from playing cricket Cliff turns his expertise to playing golf. As an active member of the amateur dramatic group, Pinner Players, he was also well known for his very funny monologues at CWCC fundraising events.
Cliff's funeral will be held at Breakspear Crematorium, Breakspear Rd, Ruislip. HA4 7SJ on Wednesday 26th March, starting at 1.15pm.
Our thoughts are with Cliff's family at this very sad time.

2014 Senior NetsNew! |
Now that we don't have to worry about waking up and dreading what the test match score will be any more, it's time to start looking ahead to the 2014 season and our winter nets sessions.
It's all change in 2014 with our new nets sessions now being as follows:
Venue - Rickmansworth School Sports Hall (Scots Hill, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire WD3 3AQ)
Dates - Every Tuesday from 7th January to 29th April inc.(that's 16 sessions in total)
Time - 8.00pm to 10.00pm
Cost - £7.00 per session (there will be a discount if you pay for the entire run at the start - details to follow).
As you may know, this is a brand new sports hall with excellent facilities - we will have 3 nets running every week, so there will be plenty of opportunity to hone your skills both with bat & ball as well as there being space for fielding drills.
So - make sure that you put the dates in your diary and get along to the first session on 7th January.

Club Day - THE CHORLEYWOOD ASHESNew! |
Hi Everyone,
Sincere apologies for the lack of communication over the format of this years Club Day. Due to various weddings and other family commitments, the pool of players available is lower than most years which has led to difficulties in deciding the final plan for this year. Fear not though, there is A PLAN! A senior (in age & wisdom) team (led by an Aussie!) will take on a talented (in computer skills and yobbery) younger team (led by a typical english gentleman!) in a day of mixed formats. There will be a BBQ and the bar will be open so business as usual there.
Please update your availablity ASAP so that you can be filtered into either catergory. The forecast is set for a mini heatwave so make sure you bag your spot for a glorious day of cricket.

Chorleywood Classic & Supercar ShowNew! |
The 2nd annual Chorleywood Classic & Supercar Show will be held on The Common this Saturday (27th July). The event will raise funds both for our club and for the "Help for Heroes" charity.
The event will run from 10-00am to 4-00pm and it is expected that there will be at least 200 visitors (+ exhibitors) over the course of the day. As well as the cars, there will be a BBQ & Hog Roast and our pavilion will be open all day to serve the (hopefully) hungry masses! More information about the event can be found at their website - http://www.chorleywoodclassics.org
HOWEVER - any assistance that anybody is able to give towards the setting up (from 9-00am onwards) & clearing-up will be very much appreciated - we realise that lots of you will playing cricket on Saturday, but any time you can spare either before or after your game would be a great help. And if you're not playing - why not come down and make a day of it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give - and enjoy the day if you're coming down.
