"An evening with Tuffers" - Thursday 24tNew!
Our friends at Chorleywood Bookshop are proud to present an excellent cricket-themed event - "An evening with Tuffers" - featuring Phil Tufnell discussing his new book: "Tuffers' Cricket Tales".

This event will take place on Thursday 24th May at The Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth. Kick-off is at 7-30pm and tickets - available from Chorleywood Bookshop - are priced at £10-00 each (redeemable against the book on the night).

The evening will be hosted by CWCC Vice-President David Rayvern Allen and Chorleywood Bookshop have kindly agreed to support the club by donating £1-00 per book sold on the evening towards our club's new pavilion fund.

April ShowersNew!

With the League season starting for the 2nds, 3rds and 4ths this Saturday 5th May, let's make sure we all get down to nets from 6.30pm on Tuesday to get ourselves ready for the season ahead!

Saturday 14 April 2012New!
Due to the inclement weather and the ongoing pressure on our square this season, the decision was taken today to call off the intraclub match on the Common this Saturday.

In its place, we have been fortunate to secure an away friendly against Eastcote Cricket Club to kick off our 2012 season. Selection will take into consideration the club's preparations for the season ahead, the balance of the side, and nets attendance thus far.

Please mark your availability asap to avoid disappointment in the coming weeks.

A message from AsadNew!
Dear All,

I hope you are doing well. I will be running the London Marathon this year (iA). Those of you who know me realise that I can’t stop running, so I thought why not put some of that energy to good use and raise some money for charity. The hair on the head may be fast disappearing but whilst there is still strength in those legs, I figured that I give it a shot!

I am raising money for the British Red Cross who are a volunteer-led humanitarian organization that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. They enable vulnerable people all across the world to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, they help people recover and move on with their lives. For more information about the charity you can visit their website on www.redcross.org.uk.

You can donate by going to my fundraising page at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/asadladha

All payments are secure.

Thank you in advance for all your generous contributions.

Best wishes, Asad

Club Captains for 2012 SeasonNew!
Following the announcement at our first nets session, the Committee is delighted to appoint Tom Smithson as Club Captain for the 2012 season. Tom first played for the club as a colt in 1999, and progressed through the senior ranks to make his 1st XI debut in 2006. Tom started the 2011 season as 2nd XI Captain but quickly established himself as a 1st XI regular, batting in the middle order.

Tom will be supported by the club's overseas, Ryan Evans, as 1st XI Vice-Captain.

This follows the departure of Richard Soulsby to Langlebury Cricket Club and Duncan Watson's decision not to stand for a leadership position in 2012.

The Committee also announces the following appointments for the 2012 season:

Saturday 2nd XI: Jeff O’Dwyer (c) Johnny Rice (vc) Saturday 3rd XI: Jeremy Hinds (c) Simon Dare (vc) Saturday 4th XI: Charles Hardcastle (c) Sam Hatfield (vc) Sunday 1st XI: Fred Dare (c) Will Pendered (vc) Sunday 2nd XI: Nigel Tyler (c) Martin Tyler (vc)

We wish the Club’s leadership group all the best for the coming season.

David WebbNew!
We are very sad to have learned of the death of CWCC Vice-President and long-time friend of our club, Dr David Webb.

David was known to all who played cricket for CWCC or, for that matter, anywhere in Hertfordshire, as an Umpire ,administrator and a lover of the game. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

The funeral will be held at West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Garston, WD25 0JS at 1.20pm on Monday 19th December. There will be family flowers only but any donations should go to the Peace Hospice, Peace Drive, Watford, WD17 3PH.

Richard SoulsbyNew!
The Club has confirmed that Richard Soulsby will be standing down as first XI captain and moving on to pastures new in 2012. The Committee and Members would like to thank Rich for his fantastic contribution to the club over the past three seasons, the last two as club captain. Rich has not only made a significant contribution on the field with both bat and gloves, but his leadership at training and on match days has set the high standards that have ensured the first XI remain in Division 1. His coaching work with the colts has also been greatly appreciated. Richard will of course remain a good friend of the club and we wish him all the best next season at a premier league club.
