Chorleywood Sunday 2nds - League v Bessborough |
31st Jul 05 - CV - The Common |
Won by 6 wickets |
Starting the game in second place on net run rate Chorleywood were
keen to record their fourth win out of five for the season and put
Bessborough into bat on a very green track.
Wood bowled well with Matt Hurst (2-32), Dave Brabham (1-36) and
Nigel Tyler (0-23) all
keeping
the runs down, however Bessborough skipper Edmonds batted well for
unbeaten 83 to see his team through to 192 for 7 off their 45 overs.
The Chorleywood reply started slowly, losing Tom Smithson in the
second over for 1 and Mike Reeve not long after for 10, but then
opener James Malinowski (55) and Matt Hurst (78no) batted sensibly,
supported by Martin Tyler (12no) to take wood to within site of
victory. With 6 runs
needed and 7 overs to go Hurst decided enough was enough and
launched a huge six into the old bakery to record a comfortable 6
wicket victory for the wood and take them top of the division
for the first time since 2000!
