Having won the toss, skipper Nigel Tyler chose to field first given the young age of half the opposition team and the apparantly improving weather forecast. Unfortunately things didnt go to plan and Potters Bar raced away at the start, with skipper D Rock reaching his 50 after 9 overs! The introduction of the slower bowlers for 10 overs each slowed their progress down but the frequent rain delays meant it was hard for the bowlers to get into a decent rhythm and the 'wood failed to take the Potters Bar wickets. When another heavy shower forced us off after 41 overs we agreed to take tea and face 41 overs back chasing 236 for victory.

The rain also had an effect on the track and the usually beligerant James Malinowski found going very difficult and was eventually bowled for a slow 23. Matt Hurst, for all his bravado on the sidelines, lasted 2 balls for 1 run and Potters Bar had the wood big guns back in the hutch. There then followed a superb partnership of 99 between Mike Reeve (59) and revitalised middle order batsman Danny Tipping (42) before the latter was selflessly run out trying to pick the run rate up when in site of his maiden 50.

Skippers instructions were then to hit out in an attempt to gain victory however some inspired Potters Bar fielding, including 3 direct hit run outs, put an end to the 'woods chances and they ended up all out for 204, 32 runs short. By taking Chorleywoods 10th wicket Potters Bar sneaked ahead at the top of the table on Net Run Rate leaving the league wide open in the last 2 games.
