Chorleywood Saturday 2nds - League v Old Camdenians |
2nd Jun 07 - HL - The Common |
Won by 5 wickets |
The Saturday 2's moved into the top half of the table with a comfortable win against Old Camdenians first team; however at 2.30 it looked very different with the away teams South African P. Victor smashing the ball to all parts scoring 62 off 40 balls. He was especially harsh on Mike Rose who had to be pulled out of the attack for the first time this century.
At the other end Gary Procter was again bowling wicket to wicket on his way to 5-39. The turning point of the game was the introduction of Russell, he started with a maiden to Victor and then had him caught on the boundary by Johnny Rice,
Russell took 2 more wickets and now has a league average of 4.2. Rosy mopped up the tail and The Wood were faced with
a target of 117. To say we cruised to victory would be over stating it especially when our skipper was run out following
an ambitious call by Johnny Lyons however he and Robin then put on 50 for the fourth wicket with Lyons finishing on an
excellent 53*.
