Yesterday was an excellent day for both CWCC and the Community. A close game kept players and spectators interested right to the end. Gladstone Small came in off his long run for the RandC and a thoroughly good day was enjoyed by all.

Simon DareNew! |
Everybody at Chorleywood CC is devastated by the news that Simon Dare passed away peacefully at Harefield Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Monday 18th January.
Simon was the backbone of our club with all of his work in a number of key roles behind the scenes as well as his consistently superb batting performances over many years. His website record of 13970 runs is astonishing and shows the desire to keep churning out scores that made him the envy of everybody he played with – although it would be remiss not to mention his bowling: especially the 28 wickets he picked up in 2015!
Simon was a legend in Hertfordshire cricket – from his time at Bushey CC as well as his years at The Wood – but we all also knew him as a dedicated family man who always spoke with love and pride about Patti, Freddie, Harriet, George & Will.
We will not see the likes of Simon again – and it was an all too brief honour to know him.
Please help fund & support the vital work of Cardiomyopathy UK at https://www.justgiving.com/SDare?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=SDare&utm_campaign=pfp-share-mobile
RIP Darey.

An important message from Freddie DareNew! |
Hi All
As you may know my family have had a tough year. Simon Dare was diagnosed with heart failure in April and now awaiting a mechanical heart to be put in and Patti Dare was diagnosed with cancerous brain tumours in August.
I have therefore decided to try and do some good out of this and raise as much money as possible for two great charities: The British Heart Foundation and The Brain Tumour Charity. To raise money for this I will be doing a 12hr straight cycle ride at the William Penn Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th January.
So how can you help?
- Donate money to support my cycling efforts - http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=FreddieDare21
- Buy a raffle ticket – You can do this by donating on the above page or seeing me in person. £5 a strip (anyone who has already or does donate will be entered) Prizes to be confirmed but they are looking pretty good! Any raffle donations are welcome too.
- Support on the day – Either by cycling with me for part of my 12hrs or just coming down to support me at William Penn. We will be collecting on the day and selling raffle tickets.
If you want to get in touch either call me on: 07772218172 or email me Freddiex.Dare@DixonsCarphone.com
Thanks very much for your support
Freddie

AGM 2015New! |
As listed above, our club's Annual General Meeting will take place on THURSDAY 15th OCTOBER - the meeting will start at 8.00pm sharp and all members are invited to attend.
The meeting will include elections for the club officers for the next 12 months, but, just as importantly, is your chance to air your views on the way that our club is run. So, please do put the date in your diary and come along to have your say on our club.
BREAKING NEWS - Our Bar Manager, in an uncharacteristically generous move, has decreed that all draft beer will be on sale at the special price of £2.00 a pint for this evening only. Just another reason to attend - don't you think?

It's that time of year again, when the bar gets drunk dry and legendary memories are made - CLUB DAY 2015!

There's a non compulsory (although it is strongly encouraged) random fancy dress theme, so feel free to turn up in whatever you like. £10 entry per person and that includes some food, karaoke (until the sun rises) and access to selected discounted drink prices.
The action will start from 10am THIS SUNDAY so there's no time to lose. Get a team sorted and get in touch.

SubsNew! |
My thanks to Liugi and Jon L who have joined the other 28 players who have paid their subs...my family and friends ( I do have some)are still concerned about the stress invovled in collecting the subs so perhaps those yet to settle up could bring cheques etc to the start of season BBQ
